JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Conceptualize, plan and direct the implementation of value adding payroll initiatives for the Company.
• Research, develop and implement salary administration guidelines.
• Oversee all processes involved in the preparation, disbursement and distribution of MTNN staff payroll, for nationals, expatriates, executives, contractors /consultants and temporary employees.
• Oversee processing, remittance and reconciliation of all payroll related statutory liabilities (PAYE, ITF etc) in strict compliance with statutory requirements and MTNN policies.
• Research, propose and implement tax efficient policies and practices regarding salary administration and benefits in kind (BIK).
• Ensure there is openness and transparency on statutory compliance levels and make adjustments to policies and procedures as required to eliminate the likelihood of non-compliance
• Oversee year end tax returns process.
• Approve all payroll related cheques and arrange for adequate funding in banks prior to payment of salaries within specified time frames.
• Oversee the preparation of all payroll related reports.
• Assist budget team with headcount budget planning and salary assumptions.
• Oversee the implementation of bonus payments due to staff in line with company and individual performance.
• Ensure prompt and effective resolution of all payroll related queries, claims and complaints.
• Manage statutory audit processes and resolve all payroll related queries from tax authorities or other regulatory bodies.
QUALIFICATION A good first degree in Accounting or any other numerate discipline.
EXPERIENCE: 8 years work experience of which includes:
• 4 to 6 years experience in Payroll management, other significant financial management experience would be an advantage
• Best practices in payroll design and management
• Payroll software and systems accounting
• 3 to 4 years in a supervisory/managerial role
• A blend of customer relations and administrative support experience is desirable.
• Developments in tax legislation and implications (PAYE, and other statutory liabilities that affect salaries).
