I am a biomedical science graduate with general laboratory experience. I completed biomedical science (IBMS accredited) at University of Greenwich with first class qualification honours. I hope to progress and further myself by undertaking relevant courses in the near future, as it is my duty to keep my professional knowledge and skill as up to date as possible. This would provide me with the awareness of recent developments and latest advances in my field.
My experience as a laboratory assistant- (reception) at Royal London hospital/ Barts have taught me the importance of prioritising request, urgent sample are immediately processed and effeciently dispatched to the specific department for analysis. There is a multi disciplinary approach to sample processing. This has given me the opportunity to learn the different tests performed in other disciplines. I also observe stocks within the sections, and I acknowledged that scientist ensures that correct level of reagents are maintained and advising the laboratory manager when items need to be ordered, and ensuring that proper stock rotation occurs. Assisting in day to day operation of the computer systems as appropriate which includes entering patient's demographic on the computer and labelling samples, fast tracking urgent samples to appropriate department.I was also shown the significant and abnormal results.
I demonstrate competency by processing all my courseworks, projects and practical report in a timely fashion to meet the deadline. I am also good in film morphology and identification of abnormal cells under the microscope in a timely fashion. The pratical experience i have gained couple with courses with all laboratory procedures and knowledge on other pathology disciplines have prepared me to cope in difficult situations and working responsibly under pressure and tight deadlines.
I enjoy working with other people as part of a team as well as working independently. I have established sound working relationships with my past and present colleagues by showing respect, fairness and willingness to help in some difficult situations. I have a very good rapport with staff and colleagues. I am willing to accept any responsibility given to me, and can work effectively with people at all levels. I have a good attendance and time keeping record, out of hours working, innovative approach to problem solving, progression and direction and proven leadership, trying to practice what I have learnt
